Seminar 13/4: ‘Assessment and visualization of the plant diversity – multi-functionality relationship.’

On April 13th, the seminar series welcomed Guylain Grange, a final-year PhD student in Trinity College and an Teagasc. Guylain presented recent work investigating the plant diversity-multi-functionality relationship. Details of Guylain’s talk are below.

Title
Assessment and visualization of the plant diversity – multi-functionality relationship

Abstract
Irish intensive grasslands are threatened by fluctuations in fertilizer prices and rainfall events. I explore how principles of diversity – ecosystem functioning relationship can be translated to sown grasslands. I discuss the adaptation of analytical method to designed plant mixture and use this support to present multivariate regression using Diversity-Interaction modelling. I then introduce the complexity to produce visualization tools to summarize multiple responses from simplex designs.
