The seminar series for the Hilary term 2022 commenced with a lightning round session and two presentations from new members of our group, Reme, a post-doctoral researcher and Ultán, a PhD candidate.
Reme introduced her thesis topic, which bridges the disciplines of Operations Research and Statistics to develop novel computational methods for the extraction of knowledge from complex data. This line of research arises from the deep insight on multivariate analysis she acquired during one of the research projects she participated in, where she performed regression/classification on large medical datasets.
Ultán introduced research on clustering methods for the identification of cell populations in flow cytometry data.
